IT
So I finally watched a film last night but the question is did "it" put the sh in "it" or was it simply the sh it? (strange saying that one).. How can something "be the shit" and that be good?. Anyhoo I ain't gonna be so critical as PV and I actually thought the opening scene very good, I of course refer to the famous boat boy pennywise creepiness. It genuinely was pretty spooky, the guy who plays pennywise this time round does an excellent job overall of being, well creepy. The only issues is the further into the film we get the more the films producers as is customary these days felt the need to strip away the subtleties that made it creepy in the first instance and replaced it with more and more visual effects.. Now some of these scenes are actually pretty decent but it still lost something for me because of it. They canni help themselves it's what we all want right? well I don't and it's a shame because the guy who played pennywise deserved better, "IT" had huge potential. The kids are a fairly decent bunch of actors too, no complaints there. Just a shame they couldn't resist the temptation to turn it into what was almost resident evil by the films climax.. Did you know there was suppose to be a sex scene with the girl and the boys? lol.. As if they'd put that in today with them being so young. They use to write all this stuff in their books back in the day, kids shagging each other and worse.. Not our sweet innocent kids

I'm gonna guess they both end up on the side of good by the end of the 3rd film, would be a little predictable. I know they kind of hint at that in the first film, that Kylo Ren could be turned and even in snippets in this trailer it looks that way. This is Disney we're talking about though, I know people are saying could the plot twist be that it's role reversal that Rey ends up the evil one. Now that would be kind of cool really but far to ballsy for Disney surely? and she's a lady. They wouldn't would they? the feminists would go mental

Lego Ninjago Movie - Bit pants tbh 3/10
Wind River - Good thriller, loved the isolated snowy setting. 8/10
Wish Upon - Passed the time, monkeys paw type horror (make a wish that comes true, but with unforseen consequences) with a smattering of Final Destination. 5.5/10
47 Metres Down - Crappy shark movie. 3/10

The Dark TowerWhat the fuck did I just watch? Granted I've only read a few of the books, but outside a few recognisable characters it didn't seem to bear any other resemblance. Terrible film. 2/10

Ghost In The ShellCouldn't say how accurate this is to the source material, have read a few comments saying it's not remotely. And I have seen the originals too but that was far to long ago now. The reason for watching it was very obviously due to Scarlett Johansson, I have no excuses for doing so outside that. No I like sci-fi and um yeah I like sci-fi and this is just plain old average through and through. Everything about it is from the special effects to the acting and it has the feel of something slightly tacky too and like it was made to make money out of the original source materials name unsurprisingly.. It's a 4/10 almost scrapes 5 but nah, yep everything about it is just pure meh and that is the last thing you want from a film to have total apathy towards it.

The BabysitterNetflix exclusive, comedy horror. Almost didn't watch expecting it to be pants, but it turned out to be alright, mostly played for laughs, Home Alone style, with a smattering of gore. 7/10

Brawl In Cell Block 99Gritty prison flick with some brutal scenes that wouldn't be out of place in a horror movie. Vince Vaughn totally bossed it as a complete psychopath. 8.5/10

Atomic BlondeToo random thus unengaging for it's own good. Action sequences felt badly choreographed with weird slow downs/speed ups to make it look like kicks and punches connected when clearly they didn't. Even the lesbian scene was limp. 5/10

LeatherfaceWorth a watch, though not the most interesting origins style flick. Come for the carnage, don't stay for the story. 5/10

War of The Planet of The ApesI was in the other chatroom last week (you know the one) and I mentioned War of the Planet of The Apes and said I'll be watching it. Can't remember who said it but someone said they just don't like the cgi in the film.. Now I have to confess not a fan myself, know I've said it before but they just can't make realistic looking fur at the mo.. All it looks like is impressive graphics rather than a real monkey and that is the first hurdle in the film you have to get over.. Can very well imagine many just couldn't get their heads round it and that presents a big problem in caring about these god damn apes lol.. I did though eventually and ended up enjoying the film, all be it the story is pretty nonexistent and reminded me of a western. A monkey tracking down me wife and son's killer is what it boils down to and it over does the sentimentality too in places but yeah it's quite enjoyable.. Also thought it had a kind of Great Escape vibe to it as well.. Good but the CGI still needs work

American MadeFun Tom Cruise movie. 8/10 I watched a not so fun Tom Cruise film, you know me I like to watch and play pap when I can.. So with that said decided on The Mummy, I wanted to know why people think it a big steaming pile of horse manure. And OK it's not a big pile but it's still pretty hefty all the same.. Terrible one liners that don't hit the mark you notice from the get go, awful script and ropy CGI. The cast you sense clearly knew this film a bit crappy, has a very cheap feel to the whole thing production wise.. Not to dissimilar to the Underworld series in fact though worse than that because at least with those films you have a sense of what the producer was aiming at.. Here it feels like they made these little five minute shorts then bolted them together into something they hope would make a whole... Yes a whole steaming pile of horse shit
