What to say about NLL? where do you even begin.. Been a member of the site for some time, a good six or seven years. Enough to know that it’s never been run with much in the way of proficiency. That’s not to say I ain’t thankful for the people I have met on the site, that I now consider firm friends. I can fully appreciate the difficulties that come with moderating a site solely dedicated to a community which will have an array of unique sensitivities and opposing views, opinions of the world, beliefs, senses of humour on display. We all know what may offend one person may not offend another etc etc. All of which can be exacerbated when mental illness comes into the fold and can be due sadly for some to life traumas. We are a sensitive people on NLL for many different reasons and you’ll often witness wild exaggerated reactions and opinions, which is all understandable. There’s also the cultural aspect to be considered, coming as we do from all around the globe. Must make for a near impossible job, so yep have some slight sympathy for the owner in that regard. You cannot please all of the people, all of the time.

With that all said above, you’d expect then the owner having claimed to be one of us to have a more hands on approach. That in a community such as this would be a near necessity. So then you can’t excuse the poor irresponsible manner, have to say lackadaisical approach to running the site they’ve taken. They’ve been near enough nonexistent, ever since I’ve been there they have. The crux of the problem stems from the owner who has never been actively involved in his own community. He seems not to have become friends with any regulars, certainly not in any meaningful way that I know of. So how then can we trust him to make a proper sound judgement call or manage the site at all with any degree of competency, if he’s never there to manage it. To see for himself who’s who and where people are coming from?

What makes matters worse is they only ever seem to listen (when they eventually do turn up) to a select few members, very conveniently. Genuine requests or concerns put forward from the community seem to be largely dismissed with a few tried and tested prepared statements for the occasion. “it’s all he said she said” “paranoia” and “toxic”.. Keeps things simple and ticking over how you want it without the need to do sod all if you only ever listen to a select few. Those who largely toe the party line and do thy bidding. Minimum effort for maximum profit is the mantra my friends.

This is the owners way of dealing with pretty much every request or concern coming his way, as NLL is great you know or that’s what he wants people to think who arrive on it’s doorstep. How dare us naysayers say otherwise.. Laughably I and others have even been threatened with legal action for saying he’s doing a poor job.. Which he is btw

The only reason the owner will turn up in most cases, is when NLL is under a heavy barrage of criticism or if the sites reputation is at stake, for that could cost precious money. They then take the easy way out as he does every single time by taking away the sections that these people occupy, and might I add had loved. Couldn’t be seen as getting rid of members out right as that would look bad for him and might cause further implications. Of course he wants their money still too lol (can’t forget that). So the next best thing is ridding the site of these sections entirely, which pretty much does the same job without ever having to lift a sodding finger yet again... Not forgetting to use the word “toxic” or some other handy adjective in the process to cover up this reasoning. It’s a case of “out of sight and out of mind” both his and all those who are gullible enough to pay 40 dollars or whatever it is these days. Why bother to properly address anything if you don’t really have to hey?... Easy money, in the UK they have a name for people like this, a cockney wideboy.

For that reason and pretty much that reason alone (the criticism) he declared the forum “toxic” too. They then followed that up by taking down the story, poem / art and video sections. Then there was the blog where they openly admitted the fact NLL’s reputation (the one in tatters anyway) was at risk, was the reason he must also give that the chop. As this was all on public display. Yes people with mental illness showing they have a mental illness (or being toxic as they’d call it) and behaving like they have a mental illness is the problem. You are/were the problem.. So it’s you who was damaging the sites reputation, it's you who's costing him his chances of making money because you have a mental illness. Yes you are costing him from making money from you; oh the irony. And so what better way to make it a simple as pie money making exercise than getting rid of pretty much the entire site lol.. Make sense don’t it? for you lot are “toxic” nutters.. What a farce lol

And what privilege did they bestow upon us long suffering members having finally given the NLL community the long awaited and promised face lift (not forgetting the site demolition job). That’s right a 3 times price hike... Easy peasy sit on my ass money.. The guilt has been there for all to see, when in their own words they said people might think I’m taking advantage of some of the poorest most troubled, lonely and awfully ill people in the community... He’s right you know, he has. It’s sad to see the amount of members who’ve left, some of which were the cornerstones of the community for many years. Genuinely nice honest people and all due to this lack of care. Not that the owner seems to care, he only cares for one thing sadly or so it would seem.. No guesses

So we’re now left with the chatroom, the only remaining survivor to the NLL cull. Which in no way (as we can see from various reviews here) is any different.. That too has toxicity as he likes to call it whenever there is criticisms of the site or people with mental illness showing they have a mental illness.. The difference is the chatroom is hidden away in a little cubbyhole and resets itself.. So who cares how toxic people are or how much criticism there is right?. If you cannot see it, doesn’t exist.

Surely you're going to post that? You've put in quite a bit of time to write that. And made some good points too.
By the way I reckon that there are 2 main reasons that Jim runs the site - to make money as you've said, but also to hopefully find a girlfriend himself. The blogs and the forum didn't really fit in with either of those 2 reasons which is why they were got rid of. And the chatroom will be got rid of too if there are ever too many complaints about it.

LOL I was writing my piece at the same time evidently.. I might go over it a bit tomorrow and decide then but I do fear repercussions will come my way if I do.

Thought he already had a GF?.. The forum was taken away because of me and PV and a few others I thought, he said it was toxic as we said he's doing a poor job of running his own site.. Similarly the Blog was having masses of complaints flooding in about a certain members and so he took that away too. Even remember him saying the reputation of the site was at stake and so it's going by the wayside 

Personally think he'll never get rid of the chatroom because it's not on public display like the other sections..  Can't read minds but I'd say these sections going did have money reasons behind it in a big way, likely due to the criticism he and his site was receiving, along with various members as well of course. He probably thought oh shit this don't look good all out on public display to potential customers. And because he had no way of letting members moderate it or didn't want us too (as it is on public display) and because he himself had not the time or the inclination to bother either he got rid... And in the process he made it so much easier for himself to make money without having to do much donkey work. Wouldn't be surprised if he thought of all this before it all happened
